Smith and Hughes may have the best marketing team in the oil patch, but for technology and performance they are no match for TRI-MAX Industries!

Case History:

Mustang Island Block A-51, we proposed to the operator 12 1/4" x 14 3/4" EWD and ES to drill the intermediate section of the hole.  The nearest offset well, drilled in 1982, is more than 10 miles away.  We estimated it will take two EWDs to drill the 3100 ft. @ 15 ft/hr.  We were conservative.

Smith proposed ONE of their new Bi-center bits to drill the entire section at 25 ft/hr.

Hughes proposed their RWDs.

It took TWO Smith Bi-centers to drill the top soft 1246 ft of hole in 146 hours (8.5 ft/hr) and an additional Hughes RWD to drill another 244 ft in 101 hours (2.4 ft/hr).  All of these tools pulled 100% wornout.

Finally, the operator gave our EWD a chance.  We picked where the RWD was drilling less than 3 ft/hr to drill more than 30 ft/hr with our EWD.  We drilled the toughest 686 ft. in 46 hours (15 ft/hr) keeping the hole angle below 1°.  An isolated incident?  Hardly!  In a directional well in Main Pass Block it took six RWDs to match the footage drilled by ONE EWD, and we have much more to show you.

We cannot dream to match the marketing power of Smith and Hughes, but we survive and grow by innovation and performance.

We know you never have the time to see every salesman, read every piece of mail, or check every website.  Give us a call and we promise to give you performance worth the time you spend with us.
