Expandable Stabilizer

   
  Drilling an enlarged hole with Bicenter bits has several cost saving advantages when compared to using underreamers. However, until now there has not been an effective way to stabilize the BHA.

The TRI-MAX ES® is a set on demand, expandable gauge stabilizer that provides the operator with the ability to optimize the BHA design for any desired well path regardless of the angle and improve drilling economics while drilling an enlarged hole. The ES® is the only expandable stabilizer for enlarged hole on the market and has shown great success running with Rotary Steerable Systems.

When run with EWD®, the ES® remains locked in its tripping configuration while drilling the float equipment. It can then be set to provide full stabilization as the enlarged hole section is drilled.

Selecting the ES® tool in place of an IBS stabilizer when running the EWD® tool will provide predictable rotary or steerable motor BHA performance.
